The Fifth Sunday of Lent

This Sunday emphasizes themes of renewal, mercy, and redemption, as reflected in the readings from Isaiah 43:16–21, Philippians 3:8–14, and John 8:1–112. The liturgical color for this Sunday is purple, symbolizing penance, preparation, and reflection during the Lenten season. It's a time for believers to focus on spiritual growth and anticipate the joy of Easter.

Good Friday Prayer Vigil
April 18, Noon until Midnight

You are invited to come to the sanctuary between noon and midnight to pray and meditate. Worship and reading materials are provided. Would you please sign up for a 30-minute time slot (you may sign up for longer) so that someone will be present in the sanctuary during the entire 12 hours as we embrace Jesus’ final hours on the cross? The Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule by the parking lot. Those who have participated in the past describe this as a very humbling and spiritual experience. Our sanctuary is absolutely beautiful at different times of the afternoon and early evening as sunlight filters through the stained glass windows. The evening hours are a favorite time for those who enjoy the “still small voice of calm.” Our Good Friday prayer vigil is a special opportunity to kneel in prayer or sit and meditate in the beauty of our sanctuary.
